Greetings,
Welcome back to this blog space for another exciting episode of inspiration.
First things first
It
has been another month of running up and down making things work. You will
recall sometimes back I had an article in this same space titled I
have a Silver Bullet. This was one of those writings that received a
good response and one I consider very helpful to any person with a vision of
rising to the greatest pinnacles of impressive positions of leadership,
influence, courage, expertise, power, vision, charisma, honor, faith,
resilience and dedication. If by chance it did not get to read it please visit
it and do it. However, if you do not recall it let me do a small recap. Here is
an excerpt.
“The
secret to making it to the top is using our talents and skills. This is the
surest way to excellence. This is key, rule and language of success. You see my
Bible which I ardently follow has this verse, ‘Do you see a man skilled in his
labour, he will serve before kings.’ When you are talented, everyone, even the
rulers and other successful people will want you to serve them. People will
scramble to hear your wisdom, marvel at your expertise, will reward your work
and honor commitments with you. You will be celebrated. People will offer their
assistant for you go grow. They will stand with you until you reach your apex
of excellence.”
That
was last time when my writing got a major boost when a company requested I be a
guest in their social media space writing Friday inspirational insights for
them. This happened when they were motivated by the quality of my work in here.
They had just seen it and liked it. Well, it happened again last and this
month: This in a different area in a different capacity. Another feather was
added to my cap.
Ego
aside, I am a First Class Honors graduate in Business Information Technology. I
am fresh from campus with no formal job and no experience. Hoping one day I will
be employed at least to learn how to earn a salary, Kidding but guess will attract
an employer one day.
My story
I
was just from an interview one afternoon and I receive a phone call from a
strange person. We exchange pleasantries and brief introductions. What he wants me do for him and his business
is totally new and shocks me. He wants a web application to sell and market his
products online. For first timers I am not a good developer however I agree to
do it at much lower price of course I decide I will outsource – to date the
deal has never been finalized. Two weeks later another call from another client
to develop another web application and to be precise a website- this deal we finalized
and I did it through a friend one Patrick my classmate. The website is functional
www.virtualtechnologies.co.ke. This, I again was a shock to me. I have never
advertised that I am a software developer. In fact I have never considered
myself to be one. I always considered myself less a developer and always wanted
to build a career in ICT hardware and software Support. More and more calls
from clients have now become common. In these deals, most are progressing and
hoping will be finalized.
Lessons from the
Project
But
why did I choose to give my story? For once I have never considered myself a
software developer. Someone had other thoughts on that. The first clients
aroused my hidden abilities and skills that are propelling my life to other
levels I should consider seriously. Yes being excellent in my previous projects
caught the attention of these guys and they thought, Jeremiah should serve us.
He always brings perfection wherever he is goes. What he sets his hands to do,
he does it better than his peers trained in the same capacity. They gave me a
much need motivation and experience to view life in a completely new dimension.
They gave me an approval. Mind you a single approval is sometimes all you need
to gain confidence in your ability.
The
baby steps in faith, business, career, entrepreneurship, leadership or any
other that are recognized and appreciated are does the magic that propels them
whom it’s done to do more. I assure you for once that have boosted my morale. These
projects have given uplift and aroused the giant in me. I am now ready to face
more sophisticated clients and complete more complex projects. My self-esteem
has been raised. I can now face clients and negotiated a contract. I am now
able to interact with potential clients, peers and customers and make my point.
I have been developing my network.
This
is in addition to the newly acquired status as a web developer. Its allowed me
know at least another thing that I never knew I would ever do. I have also
appreciated the value of networking and outsourcing wherever I am not able to
do everything. It’s not everything you will do by yourself. Sometimes it means
giving up some control, price and benefits when you are starting. You however
never compromise on quality of your work. You work to perfection and exceed the
requirements of the client. Satisfied customers always recommend you to their
peers. And so you gain more business without advertising.
Future development
in web applications
In
conclusion, now that someone scouted, trusted and had faith in me in web development;
be on the lookout for a new social networking
web application that is currently on my ICT Lab. This idea has sprung from
this new face lift. I always have had the idea of this application but have
never known how to do it. Now I know how to do it. It is a blessing to know God
orchestrates things. No wonder these New feather in the cap has come at the
right time. No matter how far you fall away from your God given vision you will
always find yourself gravitating towards it. Somewhere somehow, you will always
find it coming back. This will happen until there is no way out. You’ve to do
it.
