BACKGROUND INFORMATION

I am a Business Information Technology graduate with a First Class Honors Degree from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.I consider myself to be a hardworkingICT Support Professional, Entrepreneur, Blogger, Motivational Speaker and Business and Community Leader. My goal in life is to assume a role which allows me to take responsibility for my life and that of the community. My life has been marked with exciting episodes of excellence, great talent and skilled labour.

I am a skilled and adaptable person, with experience in implementing and overseeing change. Has a proven track record of exceeding performance expectations, remaining customer focused and adhering to budgets and timescales. I have ability to bring about the fundamental changes needed in response to changing commercial, legislative and financial factors.

SKILLS

I am always looking forward to new challenges in Business and IT systems use. With skills in ICT Support, Network administration, Web Development, Database management and administration, Microsoft Office Suite and web applications and content management I can work on any dynamic work environment and still succeed.

Nowadays there is no avoiding IT and Computing. Computers can be found in all walks of life and they are no longer things you simply find in school or at work. They are now commonplace in our homes and even in our pockets, thanks to the ever-advancing technologies that have a huge impact on everyday life.Computing is a thought provoking subject, covering a range of disciplines, and has permeated every aspect of modern life. What excites me most about the subject is the seemingly limitless potential of computers: from changing the way that people communicate to how businesses operate. Computing gives us the power to shape up our future according to our thoughts, and that idea makes me feel that nothing is impossible.

EXPERIENCE

I do several interesting things that I am passionate about. For one I am the Founder and The Director of JoinTheDots Stationers & Printers – a startup that does text books publishing and printing, office stationeries supply, e-learning solutions and e-publications solutions. Our flagship product that is quickly gaining momentum is the authoritative, accurate and simple to use Revision book series for High School and Primary Students JoinTheDots Revision Series. They are systematic revision books and question banks for students both in High Schools and Primary schools in Kenya. They have summarized short notes for all subjects and accompanying sample and previous exam questions. It’s an amazing product with the cheapest prices in bookshelves. Our vision is to be the market leaders in providing quality tools that can be used by students who want to excel in their studies. With a tag line Helping Students Join Dots of Excellence our mandate and concern is the quality of work we do through qualified authors. We’ve sold tens of copies to students and are giving amazing feedback on how it has been a good companion in their revision.

I have completed a three months’ work experience program. This was at Nairobi City Government Offices as an IT Technician Intern. This was a valuable experience and gave me an insight to how a business operates both internally and externally. I spent the three months learning by shadowing an ICT Support Officer who gave me the opportunity to see how organizations use businesses use ICT infrastructure in their daily processes. I enjoyed the problem solving and tasks which where a challenge. Together with our ICT Department Team members we were able to successfully do the following: Provide database administration and management, Office automation, Facilitate Network installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting, Provide Support services for computer systems users, software development, installation and maintenance and Computer Hardware maintenance.

ACHEIVEMENTS

All this is in addition to my roles that I do through SILVER CHAIN TECHNOLOGIES SOLUTIONS in website creation and domain hosting, Office automation, Information systems Security solutions, multimedia solutions, database solutions, ICT Consultancy, and Outsourced computer systems support. I have carried successful projects in all those areas including the one am most proud of a creation of a retail website for Virtual World Technologies.

While at the University, I served in different leadership capacities among Student organizations including Faith Based Religious Groups and self-empowerment groups. My exceptional leadership skills enabled me successfully coordinate high level strategic meetings and initiate programs that made the groups vibrant. It was during my tenure that my organizational skills were tested and proven in my effort to create a dynamic cohesive and ambitions group. I was honored to be awarded various certificates of recognition for my role in various groups. I mentored people who took over after my departure and continue to keep in touch with the current leaders to know the progress.

All these together with my leadership tenure as a class prefect in high school supervising and guiding my classmates have also made it possible to maintain a good balance between my leisure activities and my academic work.

HOBBIES

In my leisure time I enjoy a wide range of sporting activities including table tennis and enjoy website design of which I have a good knowledge of programming languages, at present I am the blogger and owner of www.jeremywakamu.blogspot.com with a tag line Helping you Join The Dots and also a frequent contributor to other media spaces. I also do part-time jobs working as freelancer in the creative writing industry as a fictional writer. I have several manuscripts that are yet to be published of fictions and self empowerment.

I believe that I have gained invaluable experience in dealing with customers and trying to deliver customer satisfaction at a very high standard, whilst working effectively and efficiently in a well-structured and mannered team. I enjoy my spare time and try to use it to the best of my ability.

FAMILY

Finally, I was born and raised by my parents Mr. &Mrs. Norman Gatonga Wakamu. They are the most amazing folks I’ve come across. Brought up and blend in the resourceful and rich Murang’a County where I studied for my primary and Secondary Schools. I’ve two brothers and one sister. They are good people to share the same womb. They are ambitious than me and make me smile daily.  Will love, wed and marry one wife. Am kidding anyway.
